I would just like to start this post by wishing you all a happy new year. At the start of the year, I usually set myself some goals and share them with you, however I thought I’d do something a little bit different this year, I thought I’d do a 2019 plan. This post will give you an insight into some of the things I’d like to achieve this year and give you an idea of what you can expect from my blog in 2019. If they happen then that’s amazing, but if not, then that’s ok.
Last year, I achieved all of my goals apart from one which I’ll address in this post so I’m quite proud of myself.
2018 was quite a year, I’m excited to see what 2019 has in store.
So what do I want to achieve in 2019?
Continue being good at my job
I love my job so I want to do it to the best of my ability, I want to be good at what I do.
I’ve always been one that pushes myself to reach my full potential, I always try to succeed in whatever I do. As well as working hard and to the best of my ability at work, I want this to also be the case for my blog. I worked extremely hard on my blog in 2018 and I want that to continue this year.
Continue visually impaired cycling
Last year I started visually impaired cycling so I’d really like to continue that in 2019. I want to do more exercise, I go for regular walks but cycling is something a bit different and something that I enjoy so I’m hoping that I can keep it up.
Apply for a guide dog
This was something that I wanted to do in 2018, however for various reasons I didn’t. I also wanted to be settled in my job before I started my guide dog application, I’m hoping that 2019 will be the year that I can do that. A few years ago, I didn’t have the confidence so when I do it, it will be such a huge milestone for me.
Do more fun stuff
I am very lucky to have friends and family that are always up for doing things, having things to look forward to are mini milestones for me as they keep me going. So far this year I have 3 concerts planned, and I am meeting Shawn Mendes at his gig so I”m definitely off to a good start. Nothing beats quality time with your friends or family!
Grow my YouTube channel
Last year one of my goals was to start a YouTube channel which I did, I really enjoy filming and editing videos, my channel is an extension of my blog and it’s a great way of raising awareness of visual impairment, tackle common misconceptions surrounding disability, educate others and share my experiences of living in this predominantly sighted world with sight loss. I’m humbled at how many people have taken an interest in my youtube channel as well as my blog, thank you to everyone that’s subscribed, liked, commented and shared my videos. If you aren’t subscribed to my channel then it would mean a lot if you did, you can stay up-to-date with my channel. Whilst you’re at it, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog as well, then you’ll never miss a post!
Get involved in more disability related campaigns
The main aims of my blog are to raise awareness of disability and visual impairment, tackle common misconceptions surrounding sight loss and disability, share my experiences of living with a visual impairment and educate people on sight loss. I’ve previously been involved in campaigns with organisations such as the RNIB and Scope, I am so grateful that they have asked me to get involved in their campaigns and this is something that I would like to do more of this year.
Work more with charities
Leading on from the last point, raising awareness of sight loss is something that I’m passionate about. I’ve volunteered with local and national charities since I was a teenager. I really am in my element when talking about visual impairment so I hope to continue working with charities to do more of this in 2019.
Be on a podcast
I’m really into podcasts at the minute, I’d love to be on one myself.
Write for external publications
I love writing on my own blog and for publications, I had the opportunity of writing quite a few guest posts in 2018, and would love to do more in 2019.
Take more time for myself
If I’m not working, I’m blogging or filming/editing a YouTube video, I’m basically always busy so I want to take more time for myself to do things I enjoy.
What can you expect from me in 2019?
Some of the blog posts that I published in 2018 are some of my favourite posts that I’ve ever published, so I really hope that I can maintain that standard this year. I’ll continue to write posts on visual impairment and disability, with a few lifestyle and concert posts thrown in the mix. I’ll continue to share my own personal experiences, as well as creating educational and informative content that I hope you will find useful.
I’m hoping that my YouTube channel will also be a reflection of this as well.
I would really like to create content that my readers want me to create, so if you have any specific topics that you would like me to write about then please do let me know, I’d love to hear from you.
Last year, I created an Instagram for my blog, I’ve been sharing content on there and I’d really like to post more regularly on there. Although it’s a visual platform, I want to make it my own.
So there you have it, my plan for 2019. Do you have a plan or any goals that you would like to achieve this year? Let me know in the comments..
Also, if you would like to see any specific blog posts or Youtube videos from me this year then please let me know.
